We are looking for a skilled and highly motivated Research Assistant specializing in neuroimaging to join the Solomonov Lab at the Weill Cornell Department of Psychiatry. We are an interdisciplinary collaborative team working within the exciting intersection of computational and clinical neuroscience and clinical psychology.
The candidate will participate in randomized controlled trials of psychotherapy for mid- and late-life depression and postpartum depression. The candidate will assist in analysis of datasets spanning clinical, behavioral, and neuroimaging modalities. This position is ideal for a candidate who is interested in pursuing doctoral studies in neuroscience, clinical psychology or medical school later on. The position requires a 2-year commitment, full time in-person at our lab, located at 1300 York Avenue, New York, with possibility of some remote days.
Experience: At least one year of previous research experience preferred. Coding and data analysis experience required. This could include:
Experience with behavioral and MRI data collection and techniques.
Programming and data analysis skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R, Bash, etc.)
Experience in developing and implementing scripts and algorithms for neuroimaging data processing and statistical analysis (e.g., in MATLAB, Python, R, Bash).
Functional and structural neuroimaging data analysis experience; proficiency with resting-state, task-based, and/or tractography-based neuroimaging software packages (FSL, Freesurfer, SPM, AFNI, DSI Studio).
Ability to independently preprocess and analyze fMRI data.
Education: BA/BS in Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, or a related field.
Job Responsibilities
This position requires prior knowledge and experience in coding, data analytic skills, and neuroimaging analyses. This can be in the context of computational projects and/or neuroimaging projects.
Responsibilities will include:
Contributes to data collection, including collection of neuroimaging data at MRI scanning sessions.
Conducts literature reviews and gains expert familiarity with research protocols and statistical analysis plans.
Assists in creation of study databases, data cleaning, quality control, and dataset preparation.
Conducts quantitative coding and computational analysis of study data.
Performs statistical analysis of clinical, behavioral, and neuroimaging datasets.
Assists in the preparation of materials, submissions, and renewals to the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Work alongside Dr. Solomonov in the preparation of grant submissions and associated documentation, conference abstracts, figures, and manuscripts.
Prepare results and interpret findings with opportunities for authorship on conference manuscripts and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
Collaborates with teams to discuss and integrate neuroimaging findings into broader research projects.
Performs other related duties as directed.
