Aging in America News highlights the important work emerging from our academic-community collaboration, in their piece,“It’s Like a Second Home.” The piece presents voices from our long-standing partnership with NYc's senior centers, aimed to deliver novel interventions and mental health services, we develop in the lab, to community settings.
The article highlights our amazing team member - Courtlyn Shimada, whose works tirelessly to bring high quality interventions to older adults in the community through persistence, creativity, and true passion and collaboration. It demonstrates how initiatives centered around mental health can promote a sense of belonging, social connectedness and true engagement among community members.
This piece highlights a priority of our research and community initiatives - partnering with older adults across boroughs of NYC to learn what they need most, to collaborate on developing better research ideas and interventions that truly address gaps and circumstances of their realities and experiences and bring them to those who need them most.
